Friday, January 30

6 pm. Anglican Cathedral Church of All Saints vegetarian potluck and interfaith conversation as a kick off event for Interfaith Harmony Halifax! The theme of the week and the conversation is gratitude.
Attendance is free. Registration is required; use this link to register.
Participants are also encouraged to bring new, unopened packages of underwear to donate towards their Feb 1 “Undie Sunday” drive.

Saturday, January 31

9:15am – 12:30pm Shaar Shalom Congregation Shabbat morning service, followed by kiddush (the blessing of the wine and bread, followed by a time of mingling and refreshments)

6:30pm Atlantic Canada Earth-Spirit Society hosts Imbolc
Please join us as we celebrate the turning of the Wheel, for our in-person Imbolc ritual and celebration.
Chairs will be provided for seating and we will not be using incense in case anyone has scent sensitivities.
We kindly ask that attendees silence their cellphones during ritual and, hold off on taking pictures of the altar until after the ritual is complete.
Doors open at 6:30; there will be displays from local Pagan groups. Ritual begins at 7:00. Wear comfortable and festive clothing – we will!

Sunday, February 1

10-11am The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Fast & Testimony Meeting
LDS Members are encouraged to fast from food and drink for the day and to contribute a fast offering— the money they would have spent on food that day. This is used to assist those in need. A hymn and prayer is followed by the sacrament which is passed to those in the congregation. Testimonies follow, and the meeting then closes with another hymn and prayer.
The meeting is followed by Sunday School class for adults to which visitors are welcome. The course of study this year is the Old Testament.
At: the LDS Chapel, 46 Cumberland Dr, Dartmouth. There is ample parking on both sides of the chapel and a bus stop nearby on the same side of the street.

Please join us to learn about Quakerism, 20 minutes of Quaker silent worship, and Friendly conversation! The meeting starts at 10:30 sharp, please arrive at 10:20.

A short loving kindness meditation session, with a short teaching session and a chanting session by Buddhist monks designed to help you reconnect with the present moment – even on your busiest workday.

The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization is the largest women-led spiritual organization in the world. With over 10,000 centers in 120 countries, we teach the meditation practice of Raja Yoga to connect to the core of peace within and to the Divine peace. Join us for an evening exploring the unique aspects of the Brahma Kumaris faith community. This is an open house evening for those who would like to have a ‘taster’ of the sacred space and philosophy of the Brahma Kumaris.
Afterwards, join us in person for a cup of chai and taste treat as we celebrate this year’s theme of Joining hands in turbulent times.

5:00pm-6:00pm Rezound presents an open meditation of Ambient Music
Rezound uses voice, instruments, percussion and electronics to explore sound and expression. Attendees are welcome to sit, stand, stretch, and find their space as best suits their needs. This event welcomes all people of all backgrounds, faith or none, for a time of rest, reset, and contemplation. There is no cost to attend. Pillows, blankets, yoga mats are welcome for extra comfort.

7:00 – 8:30 pm Chaverim Inclusive Jewish Community Join us for Havdalah, the Jewish ritual of saying goodbye to Shabbat and welcoming the new week! Light refreshments will be served. Space is wheelchair accessible, and we will provide free masks, which are required except when actively eating or drinking. Our community includes people with a variety of beliefs and traditions, united in our commitment to open minds, open hearts, and celebrating the many ways of being human and living a meaningful life.
In honour of Interfaith Harmony Halifax’s interfaith week, we will explore our own experience of being a multifaith congregation – both the enriching aspects and the challenges. We will also have guest speakers share their experience of visiting a different faith community in Halifax almost every week for several years.
After the service, join a 12:00 discussion on the enrichments and challenges of being a multifaith community.

7:00pm Ecology Action Centre Conversation: Faith and Climate Action
Join the Spiritual Coalition on Climate Action Nova Scotia (SCOCANS) and the Ecology Action Centre for a conversation panel, with the topic: One Planet: How Do We Protect It?
SCOCANS is a volunteer run interfaith group in collaboration with the Ecology Action Centre’s Energy & Climate Team dedicated to advocacy for the environment and social justice. SCOCANS members meet several times a year, supporting climate justice through actions such as letter writing campaigns, joining rallies, and more and is always looking for new members.
